Lindsey here again and my creative mojo has been flowing this week!  Wow!!

I'm having a lot of fun making these wooden tags....This one is based with Fired Brick and Wild Honey Distress Stains and allowed to dry.  Then, using the Wallpaper stamp from Tim Holtz CMS126, I embossed the background with gold WOW! embossing powder.

Next, using tissue tape and a cardstock circular base, I created a rosette.  Then, I used some Adornments from the Ideaology charm pack.  To make them match my background, I colored them with gold alcohol ink.  I adhered the wings and crown to the rosette using a strong adhesive such as Studio Matte Medium or Glossy Accents.  A Fractured Doll was adhered on top of the wings and crown.  Once the embellishments were set, I inserted a memo pin and distressed Adage ticket (inked with Peeled Paint) behind the rosette and adhered the entire circle to the tag.  I finished off the tag with some green lace and a crystal bauble.

WOW! Embossing Powders

Design Team member Sherrie alerted us to this new embossing powder company. WOW! is established across the pond in jolly ol' England, but they made their US debut at winter CHA! And the best thing: they are only $2.99!! How cool is that!?! This allows you to try multiple colors and not have to shell out lots of cash!!

Look for a class in the next month using these powders...Sherrie's got a GORGEOUS frame using all kinds of cool embossing techniques and there will also be a wall hanging coming up in April....

Just messin' around in the scrap room...

Hiya!  Lindsey here and I've been busy playing with embossing powders, Distress Stains, Tim Holtz Ideology products and stamps.

Distress Stains are one of my new favorite inky goodies.  I love how it not only works on paper, but it also does wonders on wood!!  :)  So now you can alter wood ornaments, tags, and other decorative items easily.  And the best thing is that you have 37 colors to choose from, including an awesome white AND don't forget that there are also Distress Inks, Stickles, and markers that match!

These tags are found in the back of the store and are very good for gifts, magnets, ornaments, or even bookmarks.  The first tag is based with Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage Distress Stain and allowed to dry.  Then, using the Wood stamp from stamp set CMS126, I embossed the image onto the tag using brown embossing powder.

Taking pieces of the foliage, I embossed them with various embossing powders (white, purple, green, and orange) and allowed them to cool.  The green powder was Metalline Green from WOW! and is one of my new favorite embossing powders.  Using an ornate plate and an adage tag, I assembled the title and adhered it to the tag using Matte Medium.  Then, I adhered the foliage to the tag with the Matte Medium.

This tag was finished off using softer twine, which is one of my new favorite, go-to embellishments.   I love this stuff!!  :)

DISTRESS MARKERS!!

Markers come in 36 different colors that match the current Distress line and a White Picket Fence color. These markers have many of the qualities that the Distress Inks do. They react with water to allow for blending and shading. Use them to color directly on stamps . With dual tips, you can color and journal with one marker!

How cool is this!!  So excited to play around with these once I get my paws on them!!  And I would expect some classes involving them later in the year.....Just check out these gorgeous colors!

Glossy, Glossy

One of my most favorite, go-to items is Glossy Accents..Glossy Accents are made by the ink-gods at Ranger.  Glossy Accents are labeled as a 'clear, dimensional embellishment'.  I first discovered Glossy Accents a few years ago, when I was doing a bath-themed layout of my puppy.  I wanted to use some Sticko bubbles on the layout and, after placing the stickers on the paper, I decided I needed the bubbles to really stand out.  A friend pointed me in the direction of Glossy Accents.  I applied them over the bubble stickers, let them dry, and was absolutely amazed at the results.  I had clear, glossy, dimensional bubbles!!  How cool is that?! 

It wasn't until later, after taking a class off of Tim Holtz himself, that I discovered that Glossy Accents also makes a wonderful adhesive.  It is uber-strong and works on heavier elements like plastics and metals.  It works great as a glue on paper as well!  And with it's precision tip, you can also write rather easily with it.  Glossy Accents are definitely a must-have for your scrappy tool box!

Looking to get some Glossy Accents?  Here's a couple of tips:

• If the tip gets clogged, take a very fine gauged stick pin and slowly stick it in the tip, making sure not to force it.
• If you use Glossy Accents as a glue and need it to set quick, here's a tip to quick set the item.  For example, say you glued a paper flower onto a tag at a crop and needed to go home....It's not dry yet?  As long as you are not using the Glossy Accents as an embellishment, but as a glue, you can sit on the project for a minute or so..(yes, I said sit).  The heat from your body will quick set the project enabling you to move it or pack it up.  Cool tip huh?  (This tip is from a Tim Holtz class..)

Design Team Inspiration

Design Team member Joy made this stunning altered tray using the Little Yellow Bicycle's Winter Twig line, blue Kaiser pearls, ribbon, and some glitter cardstock.  Joy got the template for the snowflake from an online image and hand cut the shape out of the white glitter cardstock.  Then, using the Iris folding technique, she layered the Winter Twig papers behind the snowflake, producing a STUNNING pattern. After embellishing with ribbon, she adhered the paper creation to a tin candle plate.  To finish, pearls were added to the points of the snowflake.  What a great addition to any shelf or table during the winter!!

Spirelli Cards with Alexandra

Alexandra is teaching Spirelli cards on January 28th from 12:30-2:30pm for $25. In this class, you will make 5 gorgeous cards using Spirelli technique and because the pictures do not do these cards justice, we've decided to make a quick video showing how fabulous these cards truly are!!
